Capt. Ezra Clap Tavern, established in 1744, is home to MedEx. Capt. Ezra Clap built the tavern a decade before the French and Indian War. The tavern is noted in several journals of British officers as a resting place after their campaigns against the French. The tavern was also used as lodging during the Revolutionary War.

Situated on one of the most important roads in the country, the inn witnessed the passing of many troop levies in 1775 bound for the futile invasion of Canada, and in early 1776 the artillery train from Ticonderoga toward Boston. In 1777 many militia units hurried westward in answer to the Bennington Alarm, which was soon followed by the critical battle at Saratoga.

Without question the tavern entertained many of the military command of these expeditions. Since its inception the tavern has been an inn, a private residence, and finally business offices, as well as a registered historic landmark.
